Message	Basically the clamped hose limits oxygen in the gap creating a potential with areas of the part with higher oxygen exposure. That area then acts just like a sacrificial anode on a boat. http://chem409.wikispaces.com/pitting+and+crevice+corrosion www.selindesign.net
